The last day at my teaching practice school, was really lovely. It started with a lovely speech we as PGCE studends made to the principal and teachers at my assigned school. "The best gift someone can give someone else is the opportunity to learn" and that is what we as students received in return. It was very emotional but yet again so lovely to teach both my favorite grade 11 classes in isiXhosa and History. I was spoiled with a little going away party in the isiXhosa class, and a beautiful going away card, signed in isiXhosa by all the pupils in the class. I will cherish the moments and memories of enriching these children's lives (and how they enriched mine) forever.
Welcome to Enlightening Education, where we strive to (by definition) "give (someone) greater knowledge and understanding about a subject or situation" and "shed light on" learning isiXhosa. This blog is part of an isiXhosa PGCE student project at Stellenbosch University. It is for anyone who wish to learn more about the isiXhosa language and culture. Read. Learn. Speak. Love. Experience and Enjoy. Together we can help the rest of South Africa and the world speak this beautiful language.
